Ellis news Update
Here is an update to the news I sent earlier. You may post this on the blog also. Our prayers regarding after-school programs were miraculously answered on Friday. In the morning, I called Missy, the afterschool director, and left a voicemail asking if there was any possibility of Julia getting a scholarship for drama. I went by her office later, and she said she had made some phone calls and was pretty sure Julia could get a scholarship. I explained to her that our finances were pretty tight due to Elena's tuition and this being our third year with almost no income. Suddenly, a lightbulb went off in her head, and she said, "Hey, do you want a job?" It turns out the afterschool program has more kids than ever, and they need one more teacher to work from 2:45 to 5:00pm everyday (M-F). Missy had just come from the business office where she had gotten permission to hire someone. She was panicking because she really needed the new teacher to start as soon as possible. I called Howard, said a prayer, and accepted the job. I start on Monday (in 2 days). I will have to rearrange my law school schedule slightly, but I had already planned to pick up the girls at 2:45 everyday. Brace yourself for what I will get for doing this job. . . . 1) I get paid (not sure how much yet); 2) all three girls get to go to the after school program for free (more than a $10,000 value); and 3) we will get a discount on all three girls' tuition! And as a bonus, Sushma will be able to take afterschool art class again. Woohoo! Thanks for the prayers!Elizabeth
